JOHN HENRY HARRISON, JR

John Henry Harrison, Jr., age 87, transitioned from this life at West Jefferson Medical Center on Thursday, January 27, 2022. He was a graduate of L. B. Landry High School class of 1953. John was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a retired Letter Carrier. He was a life member of VFW Post 2403, and a former member of the Algiers Old Timer’s Baseball Team. John was an active member and supporter of many church activities at Asbury United Methodist Church. Devoted husband of over 43 years to the late Gladys Taylor Harrison. Father of Darryl (Eurydice) Harrison, Leon Harrison, and the late Karl (Sherry) Harrison. Beloved son of the late John Henry Harrison, Sr., and Audrey Garrison-Russ. Grandfather of Leon Harrison, Jr., Karlisha Cain (Romond) Johnson, Jazmine and Karl Cain, Daria Harrison (Luke) Russell, and Elyse Harrison. Brother-in-law of Gloria T. Peterson, Irma T. Gibson, Laurette T. Reece, Veronica T. Conerly, Velma T. Clincy, Selica T. Taylor, Welton Taylor, Kenneth Taylor, and James Conerly. Godfather of Clothilde Cummings, Sheldon Taylor, and Kara Howell.   Longtime friend of Peter Carrier. John is also survived by his companion Wynesta Gaston, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Asbury United Methodist Church, All Saints Catholic Church, Fisher Community Church, Shiloh B.C., St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church, St. Stephen B.C., and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Service at Asbury United Methodist Church, 2725 Ernest St., New Orleans, LA. on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Clifton C. Conrad, Sr. officiating. Viewing will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above-named church. Interment: McDonoghville Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
