JOANN ADELE ANDERSON

Joann Adele “Jo” Anderson answered the call on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the age of 67. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Joann was a proud graduate of O. Perry Walker High School. She was formerly employed at Woodland Village and Harahan Guest House before becoming a full-time homemaker. Joann was a strong, resilient, and outspoken woman who loved life, and her family deeply. She had a beautiful soul and a heart of gold. She enjoyed socializing and was generous with her time and treasures. Joann was well loved by her family, friends, and all who knew her. She will be truly missed. Lifelong companion of Freddie Jones. Beloved mother of Kenisha, Kenneth, Trevor, and Darrin Anderson. Bonus mother of the late Rita Mae Gumms. Grandmother of Adoir Williams, Ja’zae Anderson, Journi Watkins, Carter Anderson, Kenaj Anderson, KaJua Anderson, Ka’Jana Anderson, Vyntage Colar, Naveeah Robinson, Sekani Anderson, and the late Tsai’ Rich Anderson. Great-grandmother of Sevyn, Tru, and Ja’Zae,Anderson, Jr. Daughter of the late Joseph Allen and Marion Murray. Sister of Kenneth “Leslie” Simmons, Freddie Murray, Kevin Murray, Dwight Murray, Vernal Simmons, D’Wauna “Trudy” Allen, Garland “Mia” Allen, LaTanya Allen, and the late Janice Ross, Cynthia Irvin, and Warren Simmons. Aunt the late Rickie Ross. Godmother of Adele Blanton. Joann is also survived by host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Mount Calvary International Worship Center, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Mount Calvary International Worship Center, 1600 Westwood Drive, Marrero, LA on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Apostle Terry Gullage, officiating.
