JEROME JACKSON

Jerome Charles “Jay” Jackson, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2025, at the age of 71. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Avondale, LA. Jerome was a graduate of Job Corp in New Orleans. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he rose to the rank of First-Class Army Ranger. His military service took him across the country and overseas, demonstrating bravery, discipline, and a deep commitment to his country. Jerome received several honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, as well as commendations for hand-to-hand combat and other exemplary achievements. Loving son of Marion Mackey Wright and the late Simpson Wright, Sr. Devoted brother of Bervin (Shy) Wright, Gerald Wright, Betty Wright, Marilyn (Earl) Shelton, Melvina Jones, Dianne Arceneaux, Christine (Lionel) Bibbins, Vanessa Oats, Melanise (Antoine) McPherson, Stephanie (Herb) Herman, and the late Wendell Wright, Derald Wright, Simpson Wright, Jr., and Adrienna Wright. longtime companion of Alma Hill, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, all of whom will cherish his memory. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the VA Community Living Center, Azalea House, for their dedicated care and support.
