Jerry Dean “Ms. Gretna” Meyers, age 82, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, October 31, 2022. She was a native of Napoleonville, LA, a former resident of Gretna, LA, and presently residing in New Orleans, LA. Jerry Dean was a retired employee of the Jefferson Parish School Board as a Food Service Worker at West Jefferson High School. She was known as “Ms. Gretna” for the humanitarian service she provided to help improve her community. She started the Westbank Annual Thanksgiving Baskets giveaway program and was in charge for over 30 years. Many referred to her as the Angel of the Westbank during Thanksgiving. In addition, she spent thousands of hours working and volunteering at the Senior Community Center helping prepare meals for the elderly. She will truly be missed and remembered for her kindness and generosity. Beloved wife of the late Warren Meyers, Sr. Devoted mother of Robert, Stanley, Mark, and the late Warren Meyers, Jr. Loving grandmother of Ashley, Asianay, Markia, Stantoria, and Niyaah. Daughter of the late Simon and Mildred Williams. Sister of the late Eddie, Simon, Sterling, Felton, Alton, Norman, Irving and Rose Mary Williams. Daughter-in-law of the late Earnest ad Delores Meyers. Sister-in-law of James Santa Cruz, Sr. and the late Rosemary Baxter Goodman, Dorothy Callaway, Louis, Wilbert, and Earl Meyers. Jerry Dean is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of New Hope Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at New Hope Baptist Church, 434 7th Street Gretna, LA on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Warren Johnson, officiating.
