JANICE LEE CAREY BROWN

Janice Lee Carey Brown, age 80, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Ochsner Medical Center Main Campus. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Janice was a graduate of Lincoln High School Class of 1960. She was a retired employee of West Jefferson Medical Center, medical billing department. Janice was an active and faithful member of Progressive Church, where she served as the financial secretary. Beloved wife of the late James Brown.  Devoted mother of Kevin Brown, Faith Brown (Don Sr.) Kitchen, and Curt (Shanntea) Brown. Stepmother of James (Linda) Brown, Jr., Arnold (Sheena) Brown, and the late Aaron Brown. Loving grandmother of Raven Alexis Brown and Lyshonda B. Ruggs. Great grandmother of Allen M. Ruggs and Ca’Syiah Brown. Daughter of the late Dan Claude and Eva Carey. Sister of Marva Coleman, Mary Alice Jackson, Emma Chess, Barbara Williams, Deon McGill, and the late Idelma Manson, and Audrey Carey. Daughter-in-law of the late Bertha Alfred  Harang. Sister-in-law of Alvie Jackson, Raymond Manson, Sr., and the late S.J. McGill, and Charles Williams. Janice is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Progressive Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Progressive Church, 437 Cohen Street Marrero, LA on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Sterling Mealancon, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church. Interment: Woodlawn Park Memorial Cemetery-Westwego, LA
