HORACE BYES, JR.

Horace Byes, Jr. transitioned from this life unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 52. He is a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Horace was educated in the Jefferson Parish Public School System. Later, Horace moved to Anchorage, AK, where he resided for 19 years and built his career as a Painter and Decorator within his father’s company, Glacier Painting and Decorating. While working at Glacier Painting and Decorating, Horace was able to master his profession. He later began working independently to continue to provide services in Anchorage, AK, and New Orleans, LA. Horace was a kind-hearted, courageous, family-oriented, loving man. He had a vibrant and bold personality, and his spirit will be immensely missed. Horace was the loving father to JaLesa Byes, Taurus Don-Williams, Timea (Eric) Webster, Emmanuel Webster, and the late Irealle Harris. Grandfather to six grandchildren. Beloved son of the late Horace Byes, Sr. and Pamela Patterson Byes. Stepson of the late Yvette Byes. Grandson of the late Croyden and Daisey Smith, Walter Byes, Sr., William and Mable Patterson, and Bertilla Evans. Devoted brother of Dawn Byes, Lisa Byes Williams, and the late Kerry Byes. He was preceded in death by one uncle, two aunts, and one nephew. Horace is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church, Progressive Church, St. Mark Baptist Church, First Agape Christian Church, St. Paul Baptist Church, St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, 1738 L. B. Landry Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Norman Francis, host pastor; Rev. Hilton Roussell, Jr. officiating.
