Hester Mae Speed entered eternal rest at her residence on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the age of 94. She was a native of Amite, LA and a resident of Avondale, LA. Hester was a former cook with Tucker’s Grocery. Beloved wife of the late Walter Speed. Devoted mother of Tyrone Prevost, Stanley Speed, Vincenne Speed, Emanuel Speed, Tegre Lemon, Michael Speed, and the late Norris Prevost, Barbara Prevost Taylor, Graylon Speed, and David Speed. Daughter of the late Moses Cyprian and Della Cyprian. Sister of the late Moses Cyprian, Joseph Cyprian, David Cyprian, Irene Rogers, Thelma Wells, and Mable Cyprian, also survived by 27 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Second St. John Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Second St. John Baptist Church 243 Avondale Garden Rd. Avondale, LA. on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Damien Johnson, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service at the church.
