HERBERT BESSIE, JR.

Herbert Bessie Jr. transitioned to his heavenly home on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the age of 65. He was a native of Port Allen, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA. “Pone”, as he was affectionately known by family and friends was laborer in the construction industry. He had a radiant smile that could brighten any room, a smile that reflected the kindness and love he carried in his heart. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and his love was felt not only in his words but in his actions. Beloved father of Herbert Winding, Tyrone Winding, Jessie Winding, and Ashanti Foley. Loving grandfather of Shawn, Royal, Tyriah and Tyreille. Son of the late Herbert Bessie, Sr. and Elouise Porter Bessie. Brother of Lori “Kay” (Quinston) Calvin, Samantha Bessie, and Jerome (Judy) Bessie, and the late Wanda, Barbara, and Ronald “Lynn” Bessie. Uncle of the late Sherman and Darvin Bessie. Great uncle of the late Deontae Bessie. Nephew of the late Vivian Lamark, Lorraine Jackson, Marion Ruffin, Arthur Porter, Techno Porter, and Phillip Porter, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe Street, Gretna, LA on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time.
