Helen Gladrous Jones Green gained her heavenly wings at Woldenberg Willow Wood Skilled Facility on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the age of 93. Helen was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA. She attended L.B. Landry High School. She was employed as a teacher assistant and later as a custodian with the Orleans Parish School Board System. Beloved wife for over 50 years to the late Wendell Green Sr. Mother of Carolyn Green Haynes, Wendell Green Jr. (Stacey Alexander), Lionel Green, and Anita Green (Honoray) Joseph. Grandmother of Chandelle L. Haynes, Victoria Yvonne Green, Jillisa, Jillana, Honoray Jr., Jayden, (Joseph), and Baren Akers. Great grandmother of Meagan Haynes, Jayla and Jaleah Wilhite. Daughter of the late David Jones Sr. and Evelyn Johnson Jones. Sister of the late Estella (Harry) Hammond, Elvira (Eddie) Lewis, Bernice (Archie), Davis, David (Emma) Jones, Edward (Sandy) Jones, Nicholas (Florence) Jones, Milton/Evelyn Jones (babies). Godmother of Barry (Gwen) Hammond. Devoted aunt of Evelyn H. Rankins, Deborah D. McManus, Sylvia Adams, Patrice Davis, Lizette Randolph, Jean Nicholls, Andrea (Iris), Michelle (Jones), Alexis J. Claiborne, Harry Hammond Jr., and Ronald Jones and the late Larry Hammond, (King Zulu 2007) and Lillian Hammond (Queen Zulu 2007). Former mother in law of Cornell (Sonya) Haynes, and Mamie Brown Green. Daughter in law of the late Gladys Cox Robertson. Sister in law of the late Gloria Jones, also survived by a host of other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, members of Greater Providence Baptist Church, St. John A.M.E. Church, and all neighboring churches; Employees of Inframark, Belle Chasse, LA, Community Connection, Woldenberg Village, Compassus Hospice Care, and former employees of Jefferson Workforce Connection, are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Greater Providence Baptist Church, 623 Newton Street, New Orleans, LA on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. until service time above named church.
