GRACY JOHNSON HICKS

Gracy Johnson Hicks quietly departed this life at her residence on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the age of 84. She was a native of Lakeland, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Gracy was a retired EKG Technician at Sara Mayo Hospital and later she was a manager of senior citizen nursing home for many years. She was a devoted humble servant and lifelong member of Second New Pleasant Zion Baptist Church (Saving Grace Church) in New Orleans, LA. She sang in the choir and was a member of the Deaconess Board. Her social personality would connect with anyone. She truly loved spending time with the ones she loved. She looked forward to preparing meals and celebrating the holidays. An expert baker of pies, cakes, and pralines. Mother of Susan (Karl, Sr.) Jackson and the late Casandra Hicks Ivory. Grandmother of Walter (Chianti) Ivory Jr., John Ivory, Alvin (Anthnika) Ivory, Jemiah Ivory, Jeremy Ivory, Nechell Ivory, Caleb Ivory, and the late John Roberts, III. Daughter of the late Steve and Olivia Johnson. Sister of Louella (Clifton) Joseph, Amelia (Elvin) Collins, and the late Danny Johnson, Horace Johnson, Morris Johnson, Steve Johnson, Rev. Forest Johnson, Jake Johnson, Melvin Johnson, Eloise Johnson, Rosie Mae Johnson, and Eliza King. Sister in-law of June Marie Johnson, and Freddie King. Former wife of Alvin Hicks, also survived by 6 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Gentilly Baptist Church, and neighboring churches are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Gentilly Baptist Church 5141 Franklin Ave New Orleans, LA on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above-named church.
