GLORIA ROUSSELL CARTER

Gloria “Tompie” Roussell Carter entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the age of 76. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Schaumburg, IL. Gloria dedicated more than 25 years of her life to serving others as a customer service specialist. For over 55 years, Gloria faithfully served in her church as a choir member and in various administrative ministries. She was known for her gentle spirit, warm sense of humor, unwavering faith, and the Sunday dinners that brought loved ones together. Her love for God and her family was evident in everything she did. Her greatest joy was her family, and her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will continue to live through them. Beloved wife of 50 years to the late Gary Carter, Sr. Loving mother of Derrick Carter, Crystal Guyton, Richelle (Kylander, Sr.) Bates, and Gary Carter, Jr. Daughter of the late Henry Roussell and Elnora Roussell Gaines; stepdaughter of the late Earl Gaines. Devoted sister of Norma Johnson and Richard Roussell. Also cherishing her memories are 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a viewing at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 6pm-8pm. Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Rock of Ages Baptist Church, 6533 Acre Road, Marrero, LA at 10:00a.m. Pastor T. A. Ranson, Sr., host pastor; Rev. Darren Johnson, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
