GEORGE HOWARD DENT

George Howard Dent, age 78, transitioned peacefully to his heavenly home on Friday, July 24, 2026, at West Jefferson Medical Center. He was a native of Tallulah, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. George retired from the Jefferson Parish Parkways after many years of dedicated service as Superintendent 3. He was a faithful Elder at Dominion and Power Ministries. Loving husband of Lynnette Bazley Dent. Devoted father of Troy Dent, Shelley Taylor, Damian Dent, Sr., and the late Dwayne A. Dent. Grandfather of the late Braxton George Dent. Beloved son of Otheree Lee and the late George Alexander, Jr. Grandson of the late George, Sr. and Alice Marie Alexander, William Dent, and Lottie Red. Brother of Edward Fountain, Robert Lee Alexander, Sr., Bishop Jimmie Alexander, Jerry Alexander, Sr., Bryan Sanders, and the late Charles and Louis Dent, Charles and Roy Alexander, Vera Wells, and Alice Robertson. Elder Dent is also survived by 2 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends, also pastors, officers, and members of Dominion and Power Ministries, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1419 4th Street, Westwego, LA on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Woodrow Hayden, host pastor; Bishop Tyrone Washington, officiating.
