Genevieve McKinnies Davison, age 84, peacefully slept away into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, November 22, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. “Jenny”, as she was affectionately known to family and friends, was a graduate of L. B. Landry High School class of 1958. She continued her studies at Delgado Community College, obtaining a degree in Mortuary Science. This career path led to employment as an embalmer and funeral director, serving bereaved families during a time of emotional need throughout the Greater New Orleans area. As a woman centered in faith she served tirelessly beside her husband, who was also her pastor, at Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church as a Deaconess, Sunday School Superintendent, Choir Director, Vacation Bible School Superintendent, Church Secretary and President of Sick and Shut in Ministry, to just name a few. She let her light shine, and folks did see her good works. Her compassionate, humble and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Beloved wife of 44 years to Pastor Robert L. Davison, Sr. Loving mother of Felicia Stafford, Marshellia (Joseph) Washington, Avis Stamps, Blenda Roberson, Corrine (Harvey) Seymore, Robert L. Davison, Jr., and the late Karen Donseraux. Grandmother of the late Byron Donseraux. Great grandmother of the late Q’Byan Stafford. Daughter of the late Brady and Martha McKinnies. Devoted sister of Rev. Johnny McKinnies, Joseph McKinnies, and the late Brady, Jessie, and JC McKinnies, Marion Ware, Martha McKennley, and Cathrine Bernard. Also cherishing her memories are her best friend of over 60 years, Brenda Meredith, 19 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church, Isreal Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church, 831 Wayne Avenue, Westwego, LA on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Rev. Herbert Moore, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the church.
