Fredrica K. Thompson, affectionately known as “Drica”, unexpectedly departed this life in an automobile accident on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the age of 35. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Kenner, LA. Fredrica was a proud 2008 graduate of John Ehret High School, where she was a dedicated member of the basketball team. Known for her vibrant spirit and warm personality, she was loved by her teammates, classmates, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Driven by her passion to help others, Drica became a paramedic with Acadian Ambulance Service in June of 2014. In October of 2017, she gained employment with New Orleans EMS, before returning to Acadian Ambulance Service, where she remained until her passing. Throughout her career, she touched countless lives and was deeply respected and loved by her coworkers. Fredrica’s laughter, strength, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. Loving wife of Janika Sumas. Proud mother of Zoey and Zeya Sumas-Thompson. Devoted daughter of Fredric Thompson and Cathy Bunch. Granddaughter of Dora Wilson, Jacquelyn Jenkins Autin, and the late Richard Flower, and Williams Palmer. Beloved sister Cedric Wilson and Jacquelyn Thompson. Niece of Carolyn Batiste, Christopher Wilson, Michael (Donna K.) Wilson, Thomas (Joyce) Wilson, Courtney Wilson, Terrie Wilson, Lynette Martinez, Johnathan Jenkins, Charles Butler, Jr., Willie Butler, Sr., Ruby Love, and Donna Thompson. Also cherishing her memories are her in-laws Tranell Johnson, Herbert Sumas, and a host of cousins, friends, classmates, teammates, and coworkers.
