Frederick “Butch” Banks, age 77, transitioned peacefully to his heavenly home on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Ochsner Medical Center Westbank. He was native of Marrero, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA “Butch”, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, was a graduate of Lincoln High School, where he excelled in sports, earning him countless trophies, medals, certificates, pins and ribbons. Because of his athletic skills on the football field, Butch, received numerous scholarship offers from many universities. He ultimately chose Grambling State University and continued to show his talent on the field. His professional career began with Union Carbide as a Computer Technician and later with Dow Chemical, from which her retired after 30 years as a Production Technician. Frederick was a faithful and dedicated member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church for 71 years, where he served with both the Jr. and Sr. Deacon Ministry. Beloved husband of W. Regenia Moss Banks. Devoted father of LaMarqus J. (Teresa) Banks, Reagan T. (Misty) Banks, and the late Reginald T. Banks. Cherished grandfather of Latayria, Tatyana, Tyra, Aaliyah, Taylor, Joseph “Tre” and Kendal. Great grandfather of Damon “Nuggs/Pichon” and A’Mor “Nu-Nu”. Son of the late Melvin Banks and Doris Favorite Banks. Grandson of the late John, Sr. and Louise Favorite Loving brother of Janice, Melva, Marilyn, Daryl, and the late Larry, Francis, Kevin, Karen, and JoAnn. Nephew of Pellie Ann Favorite (Irvin) Moody and Dorothy Jones. Godson of the late Louis, Sr. and Vernita Favorite. Brother-in-law of Delores Robinson, Jimmye Yuvette Starks, Pearlie Moss, George Burks, Jr. and Andre’ Starks. Also cherishing his memories are a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 Walkertown Way, Marrero, LA on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Thomas J. Brown, Jr., officiating. Viewing will be held from 8:00a.m.-9:50a.m. ONLY at the church. Interment: Woodlawn Park Memorial Cemetery-Westwego, LA.
