FRED JONES, JR.

Fred Jones, Jr., age 63, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 22, 2021. He was a native of Prairieville, LA and a resident of Kenner, LA. Fred was employed with Barriere Construction Company as a truck driver; he was also the owner of Fred Jones Trucking Company. Fred was a very generous, kindhearted, loving and selfless person, who will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Loving and devoted husband of 39 years to Myrna Carter Jones. Beloved son of the late Fred “Mint” Jones, Sr. and Elna Irvin Jones. Grandson of the late Joseph Sr. and Marceline Irvin, Mitchell and Sicily Jackson Jones.  Brother of Janice Jones, Joyce Williams, Danny Jones, and the late Viola “Pee Wee” Bureau and Jimmy Irvin.  Nephew of Larry (Vanessa) Irvin, Sr., Myer Irvin, Lynn Jones, and the late Margarite Jackson, Annette, Eloise, Sadie, Johnny Ray, Roy, and Joseph Irvin. Special uncle of Roy “Pookie” Jones, whom he loved as a son. Son-in-law of the late Roger Sr. and Dorothy Carter. Brother-in-law of Kathy (Louis, Jr.) Favorite, Roger (Francis) Carter, Jr., and Kimberly Carter. Caregiver and nephew-in-law of Elsie Lewis. Godfather of Larry Irvin, Jr., Jovan Eugene-Williams, and Tai Jones. Fred is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, New Birth Cathedral of Glory, and all neighboring churches; employees of Barriere Construction Company, Worldwide Flight Service, JeffCap Head Start; faculty, staff and students of Washington Elementary School are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2200 Kenner Ave. Kenner, LA on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 10:00a.m. Pastors Leroy Taylor and Richmond Edwards, officiating  Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
