Franklin D. Roosevelt Hunter peacefully passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022, at his home at the age of 81. He was a native of Utica, MS and resident of Marrero, LA. He Frank, “Pinch hitter” “Doc” “Trashy” as he was known to many was a graduate of Claiborne County Training School Class of 1958 in Utica, MS. Franklin was employed over 30 years with Waterford 3 Nuclear Power Plant in Killona, LA as a General Carpenter Foreman. He later started his own construction business Frank Hunter Construction LLC. Beloved husband of Thelma Hunter of 48 years. Father of Tracy (Alisha) Bright, Doris Hunter, Pertrennia (Carl) Carson of Vicksburg, MS, Latainia (Lennie) Young of Thibodaux, LA, and Tyra (Otis) Allen of Marrero, LA. Grandfather of Nick Carson, Josiah (Cornisha) Allen, Ronnika Williams, Tiara (Ryan) Landry, Tracy Bright, Jr., Lennie Young, Jr., and Tyren Young. Son of the late Alex Hunter Sr. and Nancy Chillis Hunter. Brother of Josephine Walker, Anne Mae Thompson, Tina (Sam) Barnes, and Robert (Alfredia) Pollard, and the late Alex Hunter, Jr., Louise Frazier, and Pearline Brent, also survived by 10 Great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. A special thanks to Julia Harang (niece) for the tireless assistance and care you provided and to Concerned Care Home Health and Hospice along with Ms. Anna Riley for the extraordinary care you provided. Relatives and friends of the family as pastors, officers, and members of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church and other surrounding churches are invited to attend the homegoing celebration at St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church 6223 Sixth Ave. Marrero, LA on Friday, February 4, 2022, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Edward Joseph, III officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30am until service time at the church. Interment: Woodlawn Park Memorial Cemetery Westwego, LA. Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Services, Inc. 230 Monroe St. Gretna, LA.
