FRANCIS WILLIAM TURNER

Francis William Turner departed this life at the age of 84 on Sunday, April 21, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at his residence. He was a native and resident of Marrero, LA. “Muggie”, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, was a graduate of L.B. Landry High School Class of 1959, and he attended SUNO. Francis retired after 30 years of employment as a railroad brakeman with Union Pacific Railroad. He was a member of Greater Providence Baptist Church.  Devoted husband to his loving wife Ruby Alexander Turner. Proud father of Jerome (Geisille) Turner, Zina Turner Banks, and Ina Turner (Bryan Jr.) Berteaux. Doting grandfather of DeJean Turner, Cierra Turner, Breana Turner, Casey T. (Bryant) Sears, Keenan Banks, Sydnee Banks, and Bryan Berteaux, III. Adoring great grandfather of DeJuan Rivera, Kiara Jones, Ace, Hyndrix, Harlee, Halo, and Star Sears, and the late Jayden Turner. Son of the late Earl Sr. and Edna Mae Fritz Turner. Loving brother of Frederick Turner, Marlene Turner, and the late Earl “Pee Wee” (Betty) Turner, Jr., and George Turner. Cherished friend and former father-in-law of Gwendolyn Green Turner. Adopted grandfather of Fredericka Jackson. Brother in law of Denise (Ronald) Blutcher, and the late Dean and Joan Giles, Aurelius and Carolyn Taylor, and Sydney Alexander, Jr. Also cherishing his memories are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Greater Providence Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Greater Providence Baptist Church, 623 Newton St., New Orleans, LA. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 10:00am. Pastor Javonte Jimcoily officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until the service time. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery, Avondale, LA.
