Florence Ellis, age 100, transitioned peacefully into eternal rest at her residence on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. She was a native of Plaquemine, LA and a resident of Avondale, LA. For a remarkable century, Florence embodied the virtues of faith, creativity, devotion, resilience, and an unwavering transformative love for family. She had a generous spirit and found beauty in everyday moments. The seeds she planted, in her family and generations to come, will continue to bloom. Beloved mother of Wilbert Jones Ellis, Barbara Ann Ellis, Naomi (Aaron) Conner, Eddie “Rickey” Ellis, Mary Alice (Gerard) Lassere, Janice Marie (Donald) Miller, Jo Ann (Michael) Johnson, Doris Anita Ellis, Edward Ellis, Terry Lynn Ellis, and the late James “Thomas” Ellis. Daughter of the late James and Mathilda Ellis. Loving sister of the late Lawrence Ellis, James “Boisy” Ellis, Jr., Archie Ellis, Ophelia Ellis, Edward Ellis, Edger Ellis, Wilber Ellis, and Ernest Ellis. Also cherishing her memories are a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
