EVELYN ELLIS HARDEN

Evelyn Harden, born as Claudia Evelyn Ellis, went home to live with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the age of 96. She was a native and lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA. Evelyn was educated in the Orleans Parish Public School System and later earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Theology from Union Baptist Theological Seminary. Beloved wife of the late Lester Edwards by 1st marriage and the late Daniel Harden by 2nd marriage.  Devoted mother of Carolyn McNulty, Kenneth (Priscilla) Edwards, and the late Lester and Melvin Edwards. Loving grandmother of Alicia (Edell) Johnson, Tiffany (Roosevelt) Johnson, Koatney (Jonathan) Shallowthorne, Sage Edwards, Kendra Edwards, Keair Edwards, and the late Tanisha Davis. Bonus grandmother of Adaiah Williams. Great grandmother of Ariel Davis, Rodrick Young, Arione Davis, and Ava Johnson. Great great grandmother of Kingstyn and Kaliyah Davis. Daughter of the late Claude Alvin Ellis and Jeanette Taylor Ellis. Sister of the late Rev. Claude Ellis, Mary Allen, and Enid James. Evelyn is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, 1738 L. B. Landry Ave. New Orleans, LA on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Norman Francis, officiating  Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the church.
