Ethel T. Henderson, a retired educator, transitioned to her heavenly home on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the age of 95. She was a native of Modeste, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA. Ethel received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education and her Master of Arts in Counseling and Guidance from Southern University of Baton Rouge. She retired from the Jefferson Parish Public School System after 34 years of inspiring young minds. Ethel was a faithful servant and lifelong member of Thompson Temple COGIC for over 70 years, making her the eldest member of the church. She served in the local, district, jurisdictional, and national church. She will be remembered as a beacon in her family, church, and community, who made a significant difference. Beloved wife of the late Mervin Henderson, Sr. Devoted mother of Sonya Henderson, Mervin Henderson, Jr., John A. Henderson, and Andrea Nikoi-Mabry. Loving grandmother of Dr. Vaneshette Henderson, Toya (Greg) Brown, Eld. Andre (Danielle) Powell, Alexander Powell, Dei Nikoi, Alexandra Henderson, Dominique Henderson, John Mabry III, Angelle Henderson, Esq., Gregory Andrus, Brandi Andrus, and the late Mervin Henderson III. Great Grandmother of Imani, Imari, Indya, Logan, Landen, Benjamin, Jonathan, Gabrielle, Autumn, Izaiah, and the late Jarrius Malik Lofton. Daughter of the late Willie and Annie Thompson. Sister of Elnora Brown, Marcus Thompson, and the late Bishop Joseph S. (Carrie B.) Thompson, Willie Wesley (Helen) Thompson, Edward Thompson, Rosetta (Dr. George, Sr.) Diggs, Annie Belle (Walter) Malloy, and Newton D. (Shirely W.) Thompson. Mother-in-law of Iris Henderson and John Mabry II. Sister-in-law of Albert Henderson, Frances Henderson, Shirley Thompson, and the late Irene Thompson. Also cherishing her memories are a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
