Eric Lamont Avant, Sr. was called home on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at the age of 72. He was a native of St. Louis, MO and a resident of Harvey, LA. Eric graduated from President of Corpsman’s Council receiving his GED. He served his country in the United States Army for four years. Eric was employed as a longshoreman for Superior PSI and later worked for O’Reilly Auto Parts and NAPA. Former husband of the late Dyannie L. Avant. Loving father of Eric Avant II. Stepfather of Mia (Blake) Toomer. Grandfather of Eric Avant III, Traion Sargent, Blake Jr. and Blane Toomer. Devoted companion of 10 years to Melanie Duncan. Son of the late McKinley Avant, Jr. and Jeanette Hester Brown. Brother of Ken (Queen Carol) Avant, Gerald Wayne Luster, Tyrone Luster, Marcus Luster, Kent (Audrey) Luster of Swansea, IL., Dondi (Sandie) Luster of Cahokia, IL., Darrus Avant of Virgina Beach, VA., Tyrone Luster, Marcus Luster, Pierre Avant, Nadine Luster, Phyllis Pearson, Annette (Marvin) Jackson, Felicia Luster, Monica Luster, Rhonda Luster, and the late Raymont Avant, and Vallory Luster. Beloved uncle of Ashanti Avant, Kentaley Avant, Theolor (Eric) Dixon, Raymond Avant Jr., Dominque Avant, Marquis Avant Jr., McKinley Avant, Pierre Avant, Keith Avant, Victor Russell, and Antonio Bridges. Brother-in-law of Donna Mae Bridges and Rita Ward. Favorite cousin of Keith Avant. Devoted friend of David Charles Quinn, Alton Rouche, and Lionzell Silas; also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
