ELENOR SHAW MITCHELL

Elenor Shaw Mitchell departed this earthly life for her heavenly home on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at the age of 85. She was a native of Waterproof, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Eleanor was a graduate of Lincoln High School Class of 1954, and she attended Dillard and Southern Universities earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. She received her master’s degree in Guidance Counseling from Loyal University. Eleanor was member of Alpha Gamma Zeta of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated. She was a retired school teacher for the Jefferson Parish School System for over 31 years and a administrator for the Advent after school program for over 10 years. Loving mother of Dr. Kyran O. (Stephanie) Mitchell. Grandmother of Kyran and Stevie Mitchell of Reading, PA, also survived by of nieces, nephews, godsister, other relatives, and friends.  Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Historic True Vine Baptist Church, and neighboring churches; sorors of Alpha Gamma Zeta of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Historic True Vine Baptist Church 249 Sala Ave. Westwego, LA, on Friday, March 3, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Leander Johnson officiating.
