Elaine Carter Cook entered into Heaven’s Gates on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the age of 84. She was a native of New Orleans, LA, a resident of Gretna, LA for 60 years, and presently residing in Harvey, LA for the past 7 years. Elaine was employed for over 30 years with Katz and Besthoff Drug Store (K&B). She retired from the Mercedes Benz Superdome and Smoothie King Center after many years of dedicated service. She was a devoted member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a Deaconess, participated with BTU, Sunday School, Beautification Committee, and the Nutrition Committee. Her deep love for her community led her to volunteer at the Gretna Community Center. She took joy in preparing sweet treats to be a blessing or to brighten someone’s day. Beloved wife of the late Willie Dean Cook. Devoted mother of Lolita L. Blunt, Mahalia B. Brathwaite, Noel B. Starks of Oklahoma, Annette B. Epps, Oscar L. Blunt, Sandra B. Lewis, and the late Joseph Blunt, Sr., Demetrius Blunt, and Albert Blunt Royster. Loving grandmother of the late Joanna Blunt, Keian Blunt, Mishikea Brathwaite, Leandrus, Keith, and Kevin Blunt. Daughter of the late Warren Savage, Sr. and Althea Pierce Carter; stepdaughter of the late Beatrice Savage. Sister of Edward Carter, Sr., Earl Savage, Sr., Denise Vizcarrondo of Georgia, and the late Annie Mae Gougisha, Rose Duplessis, Lorraine Battiste, Warren Savage, Jr., Alton Savage, Sr. and Ronald Savage. Sister-in-law of Renell Carter, Barbara Savage, and the late Grace Savage, Merlin Gougisha, Jimmie Duplessis, and William Battiste. Elaine is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 21 great great grandchildren, 3 daughters-in-law, 3 sons-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Holy Hill Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; employees of Jefferson Parish Clerk of Court, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Office, and CUS Transportation are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1509 Monroe Street, Gretna, LA on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Orin Grant, Sr., officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time ate the church.
