Edward Lee, Jr., affectionately known as Russell, peacefully entered his heavenly home on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at the age of 83. He was a native of New Orleans, LA (Cutoff Community) and a resident of Avondale, LA. Russel was a 1961 graduate of L. B. Landry High School and was employed for over 23 years with General Electric (GE) as an Electric Motor Winder, prior to retirement. Beloved husband of Jennifer Schexnayder Lee. Devoted father of Dawn Lee (Gary) Majors, Edward Lee III, Rashan (Quincy) Johnson, Rashell Glover, and the late Leonard Lewis, and Tanya Deneen Lee. Bonus father of Tomica (Tiger) Smith. Son of the late Edward Lee, Sr and Lucielle Gastinell Lee. Grandson of the late James and Leona Lee, Morris and Victoria Gastinell. Brother of Gretchen (Larry, Sr.) Abernathy, Diane (Terry) Flemmings, Roger Lee, Veronica (Leo) St. Cyr, Jerry Lee, Sr., and the late Grace Carol Lee. Nephew of Rosemary Hughes, Leona (Gene) Roy, and the late Eugene and Loretta Gastinell, Earl and Lillian Green, Stella Jefferson, Sidney and Adele Williams, Solomon and Eliza Davis, Richard and Fannie Anderson, Altus and Hennie Lee, David and Dorothy Lee, Joseph Hughes, Aaron Lee, and Alice Lee. Brother-in-law of Johnny (Janet) Scott III, Eric (Claudia) Scott, Michelle (Kenneth) Brown, and Musette Jones. Godfather of Trichelle Lee and Cindy Phoenix. Also cherishing his memories are 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Second Baptist Church, Second Nazarene Baptist Church, Asbury United Methodist Church, Fischer Community Church and all neighboring churches; Cutoff Community are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Fischer Community Church, 1737 L. B. Landry Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Pastor James Nelson Brown, host pastor; Rev. Dr. Jeremy J. Abernathy of Noonday Missionary Baptist Church, Marietta, GA, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
