EDWARD R. HOLMES, SR.

Edward Robert Holmes, Sr., age 86, entered peacefully into eternal rest at his residence on Saturday, April 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA. Edward retired from Avondale Shipyard after many years of dedicated service as a welder. Beloved husband of Eula B. Holmes. Devoted father of Edward, Jr. and the late Steven and Valarie. Son of the late James Holmes and Shirley Scott. Loving brother of Reginald, Kenneth, Elaine, Sonya, Paulette, Agayther, Shelia, and the late Ferdnand, Anthony, Elridge, and Diane. Edward is also survived by 1 grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the parlor.
