Doris “Tinny B” Phoenix passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the age of 85. She was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA. Doris was a graduate of L. B. Landry High School Class of 1959, and she continued her studies at St. Mary’s Dominican College, and Southern University at New Orleans. Doris retired in 2002 as a paraprofessional with the Orleans Parish School Board, and in 2005 she retired from the New Orleans Fair Grounds. She was a devoted member of Second Baptist Church, where she was a choir member and former Youth Choir Director. Daughter of the late Frank Phoenix and Mildred Williams Phoenix. Granddaughter of the late John, Sr. and Rosella Phoenix, Sidney and Stella Corretta Williams. Sister of Jacqueline Phoenix Arnold, Manuel L. Phoenix of Athens, Greece, and the late Richard Phoenix, and Preston Phoenix. Sister in law of Willie Arnold, Sr., Evgenia Phoenix of Athens, Greece, Sharon Phoenix of Las Vegas, NV, and the late Elouise Bergeron Phoenix. Aunt of Dasha, Willie, Jr., and Willie Arnold, Pernell, Richard, and Dion Bergeron, Monica Bergeron (Larry), Pichon, Valerie and Bergeron Vedor, and the late Mark Bergeron. Great aunt of Markeisha Emery, Marze Meadors, and Phoenyx Arnold. Great great aunt of Marlee Keller and Madyson Emery also survived host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Second Baptist Church, Second Nazarene Baptist Church, Asbury United Methodist Church, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Second Baptist Church 2836 Sullen Place New Orleans, LA on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Andre Sigler officiating. Viewing will be held from 8:30a.m. until service time at the above named church. Interment: Westlawn Cemetery-Gretna, LA. Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe St. Gretna, LA.
