Doris “Darie” Favorite Banks, age 89, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. She was a native and resident of Marrero, LA. Doris was educated in the Jefferson Parish School System. With a passion for cooking, she began her professional career as a Cafeteria Manager at Lincoln High School and later as a Chef at Westside Grill. During these years, she also worked at her brother’s restaurant Jessie’s in Marrero. Doris will be remembered by her family, friends, and community for her great meals, cakes, pies, tea cookies, and coconut-pecan candy. Devoted mother of Frederick (Regenia) Banks, Janice Banks, Darryl Banks, and Karen Banks-Lewis. Loving grandmother of LaMarqus, Reagan, Jarreth, Ja’Nace, Darian, Edrianna, Darilyn and the late Reginald. Great grandmother of the late Jardyn. Daughter of the late John Hillard Favorite, Sr. and Louise “Sing” Moore Favorite. Granddaughter of the late Frank Moore, Corrine Jones, Christof and Rosalie Favorite. Beloved sister of Pellie Ann Favorite (Irvin) Moody and the late John, Jr., Lionel, and Jessie Favorite. Special aunt of John and Johnathan Moody, whom she loved as her grandchildren. Doris is also survived by her aunt Dorothy Jones, sister-in law Geareld H. Favorite, 13 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Public Viewing at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 Walkertown Way Marrero, LA on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 8:30a.m.-9:50a.m. ONLY.
