Donald Townsend, Sr. departed life in San Antonio, TX on Monday, March 27, 2023, at the age of 30. He was a native of Harvey, LA and a resident of San Antonio, TX He was a graduate of Helen Cox High School and Delgado Community College, where he received a certificate in welding. He was employed as a coach at Essence Public School. Loving spouse of Keriyon Algere. Loving father of Donald, Jr., Ky’mani, Zy’onn, and Zakari L. Townsend, and Dy’rione Algere. Beloved son of Donald Taylor and the late Toni Ann Townsend. Stepson of Irene E. Taylor. Grandson of Margaret and Herman Taylor, Larry Townsend, and the late Gwendolyn Townsend. Brother of Donovan and Joseph R. Taylor, Adrian Bridgewater, Alton Edwards, Donya and Amy Townsend, Rayon (Brandon) Johnson, Mije Williams, Anita and Aquitta Edwards. Uncle of the late Dream Angel Ayella Willis. Donald is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Progressive Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend a Memorial Celebration at Progressive Church, 437 Cohen Street Marrero, LA on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 11:00a.m. Pastor Sterling Mealancon, officiating.
