Dolores Ruffin Payne, age 92, peacefully transitioned on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at her residence surrounded by close family. She was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA. Beloved wife of 41 years to the late Warren Albert Payne, Sr. Loving mother of Gilda Payne (Kenneth) Malarchar, Chester Carl (Veronica) Payne, Sr., Harold Ruben Payne, Sr., and the late Warren Albert Payne, Jr. Cherished grandmother and great grandmother of Melita “Kellie” Payne, Kenneth Malarchar, Jr., Tracy Malarchar, Ryne Payne, Kori Spencer, Kennedi Malarchar, Kayleigh Payne, Kyle-Jared and Kenneth Malarchar, III, and the late Krystal Payne, Harold Payne, Jr. and Baby Malarchar. Daughter of the late Wesley, Sr. and Olivia Landry Ruffin. Sister of Wesley “Pete” (JoLynn) Ruffin, Jr., Curtis “Kite” Ruffin, Sr., Gladys R. Butler, John (Angela) Ruffin, Marguerite R. Robinson, Linda R. Black, Merite R. Cain, Otis Ruffin, and the late Ceasar Ruffin, Sr., Dorothy R. Lee, Mable R. Brooks, and Olivia R. Wallace. Dolores is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Second Baptist Church, Christian Fellowship Cathedral, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Second Baptist Church, 2836 Sullen Place, New Orleans, LA on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Andre Sigler, host pastor; Rev. Anthony Ruffin, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service at the church. Interment: Resthaven Cemetery, New Orleans, LA.
