Delphenie Hollins Foster Butler entered into eternal rest at her residence on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at the age of 91. She was a native of Pinola, MS and a resident of Marrero, LA. She was a retired employee with the Orleans Parish School Board where for the next 40 years, she taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades, served as Ranking Teacher, School Test Coordinator, Student Activity Fund Bookkeeper, 4 -H Club Leader and Student Council Coordinator. Delphine received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Xavier University in 1963. She furthered her education by receiving a Master of Arts Degree in Education from Xavier University in 1976 and a master’s degree Plus-30 from the University of New Orleans in 1979. She also received certification in Elementary Grades, Counselor in Elementary School, Principal, Parish/City School Supervisor of Instruction, Supervisor of Student Teaching, LA Department of Education Mentor Training and Training for Dyslexia Screening. Delphenie was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated New Orleans Alumnae Chapter. Beloved wife of the late William Foster, Jr by first marriage and Joshua L. Butler, Jr. by second marriage. Devoted mother of Stephen D. (Joycelyn) Foster. Grandmother of the late Kwame Joseph Christopher Huntington-Foster. Daughter of the late Rev. Willie H. Hollins and Naomi Banks Hollins. Sister of Charlie Hollins, Sr., and Malachi (Sandra) Hollins, Katie H. Bell, Naomi H. Hampton, Dora H. Morrison, and the late James Hollins, Sr., Willie Hollins, David Hollins, Odell Banks, Lula “Ruth” Reeder, and Mary Joyce Jackson, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Mount Zion United Methodist Church and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Mount Zion United Methodist Church 2722 Louisiana Ave. New Orleans, LA on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at 11:00a.m. Pastor John T. White officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the above-named church. Interment: Providence Memorial Park Cemetery-Metairie, LA.
