David Sharrson Stanford transitioned to his heavenly home at Touro Infirmary on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the age of 73. He was a native of Panama City, FL and a resident of Marrero, LA. David was a graduate of Lincoln High School Class of 1970. He later enlisted in the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War. For his bravery he earned commendations as a Rifle M-16 Marksman and the National Defense Service Medal. David was employed as an 18 Wheeler Truck Driver, who traveled across country, before retiring after many years of dedicated service. After a few years, he returned to the workforce with Jefferson Parish Community Action Maintenance Department, serving several years before retiring for a second time. David was an active and faithful member of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, sang with the Male Chorus, and was a member of the Prison and Brotherhood Ministries. Loving father of David R. Stanford, Trenell M. Deboue, and Anitra C. (Robert) Daniels. Son of the late Harrison Young, Sr. and Sarah Young. Beloved brother of Dorothy Favorite, Thomas Stanford, Helen Davis, Celestine Cotton, Patricia Price, Vanessa Young, and the late Betty Flemings, Rosie Bowie, and Harrison Young, Jr. Also cherishing his memories are 4 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, 6223 6th Avenue, Marrero, LA on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Edward Joseph, III, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
