David Martin Pittman, Sr., age 61, entered peacefully into eternal rest at his residence on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Avondale, LA. David was employed for over 20 years with the United States Postal Service. He was faithful served as a deacon at New Jerusalem Baptist Church and later continued his faithful service as a deacon at Second True Love Missionary Baptist Church. His jokes, laughter, and lighthearted spirit created countless memories, that his family and friends will forever hold dear. Those who knew David will remember not only the love and faith he shared, but also the joy he brought wherever he went. Beloved husband of Maxine Pittman. Devoted father of Ashley Pittman (Norman) Jones, David (Vinisha) Pittman, Jr., and Jairus Pittman. He was eagerly awaiting the birth of his granddaughter Emerie Noelle Jones. Loving son of Margaret Pittman and the late Curtis Watts. Grandson of the late Percy and Cynthia Jackson. Brother of Wallace Pittman, Carolyn Pittman, Charlotte (Xavier) Woods, Joseph (Phyllis) Pittman, Sr., Cynthia (Eddie) Jones, Michele (Ruben) Horne, Rosalind Phillip, Racheal Phillip Baldwin, Karen Denise Phillip, Trina, Sarina Phillip, and the late James Pittman, Cassandra George, and Kim Phillip Motiere. Uncle of the late Tara Hall, Byron Phillip, Sylvester Brown, Jr., Travis Hannibal, and Joseph Pittman, Jr. Nephew of Claudine Watts (Frank) Alexander, Thomas Watts (Jeanette Armstrong), and Percy (Deborah) Jackson, Jr. Son-in-law of the late Joseph Brown, Sr. and Virginia Brown, Brother-in-law of Sylvester (Tamara) Brown, Samuel Brown, Sr., Elizabeth Brown, Dianne Brown, Cheryl Brown, and the late Louis Edward Brown, Joseph Brown, Jr, and Paula Miller Brown. Also cherishing his memories are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Bibleway Missionary Baptist Church, Second True Love Missionary Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Bibleway Missionary Baptist Church, 3308 Orleans Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Lance J. Brown, officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m until service time at the church.
