CORNEL SANDERS

Cornell “Dee Dee” Sanders departed his earthly body to ascend with the Lord on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at the age of 65. He was a native of Bridge City, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Cornell received his certification as a Master Pipefitter from UNO. Dee Dee, as he is affectionately known to family as friends, was employed with Avondale Shipyard for 30 years. Beloved husband of Sheron Sanders. Devoted father of Colby Sanders and the late Tory Sanders. Loving grandfather of Tory Sanders, Jr., Jacolby Sanders, Shiobhan Riley Sanders, and Trinity White. Son of the late Riley and Esther “Queen” Eugene Sanders. Grandson of the late Leander Sanders, Maggie Lee, Frank and Esther Eugene.  Brother of Julice Davis, Tammy Sanders, Carolyn Tucker of New Jersey, Denise (Mike) Ramsey, Eric Shelby Sanders, and the late Riley Sanders, Jr. Nephew of Mary White, Dorothy Thompson, and Martha Jenkins of Water Valley, MS. Son-in-law of the late Percy Lee and Sherman Rogers. Father-in-law of Cheramie Blackmon and Nakeya White. Devoted Cousin of Romalice White, Jr. Special friend of Billy Hookfin, David and Idella Frazier. Cornell is also survived by 6 sisters-in-law, 3 brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Second Salvation Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Second Salvation Baptist Church, 212 Marrero Ave. Bridge City, LA on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 11:00a.m. Rev. Charles Crawford, Sr., officiating.  Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the church.
