CHRISTELL HOLMES GRAY

Christell Nadine Holmes Gray, age 66, departed this life at West Jefferson Medical Center on Friday, July 5, 2024. She was a native of Marrero, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. Christell was a 1975 graduate of L. W. Higgins High School. She later gained employment with Entergy as a Customer Service Specialist. Throughout her career, she was known for her hard work and dedication to helping others. Christell was a devoted mother and grandmother, who cherished spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, shopping with her daughter, and cooking. She will be remembered for always willing to offer guidance, support, encouragement, and prayer to anyone who needed it. Loving mother of Ryan Joseph (Rachael) Gray and Crystal (Christopher) Hebert. Devoted grandmother of Renae’ J. Gray, Reina J. Gray, Austin L. Gray, Rafe J. Gray, Ryah J. Gray, Trinity R. Velazquez, Cruz O. Valazquez, and Theron J. Valazquez, Jr. Beloved companion of Wilson R. Williams Jr. Former wife of Sterling Gray. Daughter of the late Joseph Holmes, Jr. and Mary Eve Campell Holmes. Granddaughter of the late Joseph Holmes, Sr., Orlease Chopin Holmes, Eddie Campbell and Sadie C. Holley Campbell. Sister of Michael A. Holmes, Sr., Janice (Kevin) Butler, Guy (Betty) Holmes, Linda (Milton Jr.) Crosby, Kevin P. Campbell, and Tanya (Stephen Sr.) Colar. Also cherishing her memories are a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 455 Ames Blvd. Marrero, LA on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Father Sidney Speak III, celebrant.
