CHARLIE HARPER, JR..

Charlie Harper, Jr., age 66, transitioned peacefully into eternal rest at his residence on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was a native of Avondale, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. Charlie was a 1978 graduate of John H. Martyn High School and was formerly employed as a Deckhand with Compass Marine. Charlie was a veteran of the United States Navy. Beloved husband of Marlene Bennett Harper. Devoted father of Brian Harper, Brandon (Sharjanae) Harper, Shawn Kentrell Briggs, and Latosha Briggs. Doting grandfather of Blayz, Xela, Xyrhi, Xeus, and Briley Harper. Son of the late Charlie Harper, Sr. and Pearline Stevens Harper. Grandson of the late Ben and Ethel Harper, Rufus and Maggie Stevens. Loving brother of Warren Harper, Watachulyn Harper (Joseph Jr.) Gilbert, Latonya Q. (Christopher) Kennedy, Bobby Million, Ray Charles Adams, and the late Michael Harper and Kenneth Wayne Harper. Godfather of Jarielle J. Gilbert. Brother-in-law of Phyllis Perkins, Dianne James, Mary (Leslie Jr.) Markey, Floyd (Audrey) Bennett, Michael (Carmen) Bennett, Debbie Bennett, and Murphy Riley; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
