CHARLES BERNARD GAUNICHAUX, SR.

Charles Bernard Gaunichaux, Sr. life journey came to an end on Monday October 6, 2025, at the age of 87. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA. Charles was educated in the New Orleans Public School System. He served his country in the United States Army. “Gator”, as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was employed as a longshoreman and truck driver. Charles was a faithful of Jesus Is Lord Evangelistic Ministries, served as senior deacon. Beloved husband of 31 years to Barbara Gaunichaux. Loving father of Charles Gaunichau, Jr., Kenneth (April) Gaunichaux, Yolanda (Dwain) Vaughn, Lucius Gaunichaux, Demetrice (Peter) Riley, Shennel Gaunichaux, Jyn McCray, Janice Skinner (Lydell), Monica Strong, Demaria Sonia, Alvin (Kenya) Sonia, Shana (Donald) Williams, Yolanda (Chris) Crawford, and Brandon (Camia) Sonia. Son of the late Albert Gaunichaux and Ester Lepage. Brother of Edward Gaunichaux, Anthony Gaunichaux, and the late Wallace Peter Gaunichaux and Patricia Gaunichaux. Devoted uncle of Kevin Harris. Godfather of Gerald Sylvest and the late Nicole Wlliams, also survived by 42 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends are invited also pastors, officers, and members of Jesus Is Lord Evangelistic Ministries, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at of Jesus Is Lord Evangelistic Ministries 1728 Hancock St. Gretna, LA on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Donald C. Williams officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. until service time at the above named church. Interment: Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery- Slidell, LA.
