Bishop Jerry Jackson Henry, Sr, age 74, transitioned peacefully from this earthly life into eternal rest on Saturday, December 13, 2025. He was native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Answering God’s call at an early age, he dedicated his life to Jesus Christ and to the faithful service of God’s people. He was ordained in 1971 through the Westside Missionary Baptist Association, beginning a lifelong ministry marked by spiritual authority, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the Gospel. He was the pastor of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Westwego for 17 years. In obedience to God’s leading, Bishop Henry and his late wife, Minister Ruth M. Henry, founded Dominion and Power Ministries on May 2, 1999. Through his powerful preaching and teaching, Bishop Henry advanced the Kingdom of God, strengthened families, and inspired generations to walk boldly by faith. A lifelong learner, Bishop Henry valued education as a vital tool for ministry and service. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Master of Social Work degree from Southern University of New Orleans, a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and later a Doctorate in Psychology and Theology. He served his community with distinction through numerous civic, pastoral, and chaplaincy roles and received many honors recognizing his faith, leadership, and service. Beloved husband of Dr. Patricia Frye Henry and the late Minister Ruth M. Henry by first marriage. Loving father of Pastor Jerry J. (Elder Monica) Henry, Jr., Elder Shawn M. (Shavon) Henry, Elder Craig E. (Javonda) Henry I, and Mo’nique A. Henry. Stepfather of LeMar (Ashley) Frye and LeNika (John) Johnson. Son of the late Missionary Elvira Henry. Devoted brother of District Missionary Juanita (Michael) McGowan and Cynthia Henry (David Duncan). Also cherishing his memories are 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, spiritual sons and daughters. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Dominion and Power Ministries, Life Center Cathedral, The House of Grace, Greater Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Shiloh Baptist Church of Westwego and all neighboring churches are invited to attend a Public Viewing at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1419 4th Street, Westwego, LA on Friday, January 9, 2026, the body will lie in repose from 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. Homegoing Celebration will be held at Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church, 2515 Franklin Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 10:00a.m. Bishop Jonathan Everett, host pastor; Bishop J. Douglas Wiley Taylor, officiating. Viewing will be held from 8:00a.m. until service time ONLY. Interment: Westlawn Park Cemetery-Gretna, LA.
