Betty Jean Vedol Allen, age 82, transitioned at her residence from labor to reward in glory on Monday, May 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was a native of Vacherie, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Betty was a 1962 graduate of Magnolia High School. She will be remembered for her kindhearted spirit and her radiant smile that lit up every room. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Allen, Jr. Loving mother of Kim (Melanie) Vedol, Paula Crawford, DeWauna (Trudy Lyn) Allen, LaTanya Allen, Garland (Mia Patrice) Allen, Marlon Allen, Shelly Allen, Shawn Allen, Joseph (Lola) Allen III of Memphis, TN, Jo Ann Anderson and Kevin Murray. Daughter of the late Vincent and Berella Lewis Vedol. Granddaughter of the late Vincent, Sr and Cora W. Vedol, Bernard, Sr. and Penny R. Lewis. Loving sister of Lois Vedol , Linda (Larry) Melancon, and the late Van Vincent Vedol, Stanley Vedol, Ernestine Vedol, Brenda Vedol Jasmine, Sharline Vedol Bright, Claudia Jean Vedol Harry, and Carternell Vedol Nash. Sister-in-law of Charline Vedol, Martin Harry, Lawrence Nash, and the late Evelina Allen, Dorothy Birdlow, Velma Jones, Virginia Mitchell, Florence Robinson, Dolores Thompson, Hebert Allen, and Marvin Jasmin. Godmother of Verline Melancon. Also cherishing her memories are her devoted friends Willie Mae Antoine, Equilla Bazile, Valeria P. Robinson, Doris and Barbara Chess, Larry and Marilyn Gibson, 22 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Second Highway Baptist Church, Fifth African Baptist Church of New Orleans, LA, Second Zion Baptist Church of Marrero, LA, Highway Baptist Church of Vacherie, LA and all neighboring churches; employees of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Turner Industries, Walmart Super Center(Marrero), Neighborhood Walmart (Harvey), and Creative Kids Daycare/Preschool; members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc New Orleans Alumnae Chapter, Free Riders MC, and Krewe of Athena Carnival Club are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Second Highway Baptist Church, 1533 Haydel Drive, Marrero, LA on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Joseph Johnson, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the church. Interment: Highway Baptist Church Cemetery-Vacherie, LA. Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe St., Gretna, LA.
