BETTIE LOU POWELL

Missionary Bettie Lou Powell entered peacefully into eternal rest at her residence on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the age of 78. She was a native of Hazelhurst, MS and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Bettie was a graduate of L. B. Landry High School. She was employed at Charity Hospital for many years as a Phlebotomist/Nurse Tech, prior to retirement. Missionary Bettie was a faithful member of Power and Deliverance Temple Church of God in Christ. Beloved wife of the late Moses L. Powell, Sr. Devoted mother of Moses L. Powell, Jr., Terry I. Powell (Lorenzo) Hargrave, and Jameka Powell (Stanley Veal, Jr.). Daughter of the late George and Rosie Jones. Loving sister of Willie Lee Jones, Thomas Jones, James Jones, Johnnie Mae Bailey, Frances Washington, Joyce (Ronald) Carmouche, Helen Jones, and the late Mattie Johnson, Larry Jones, Aaron Ray Jones, and Dorothy B. Jones Charles. Also cherishing her memories are 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Power and Deliverance Temple Church of God in Christ, Thompson Temple Church of God in Christ and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Thompson Temple Church of God In Christ, 1515 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, LA on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Elder Keith Thornton, host pastor; Elder James Griffin, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
