BENNIE LEWIS

Bennie “PeeWee” Lewis entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 3, 2022, at the age of 78. He was a native of Gretna, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA since Hurricane Katrina.  Bennie was a retired construction and oil field worker. He was a former member of New Hope Baptist Church of Gretna, and presently a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Port Allen. Since retiring, Bennie enjoyed playing golf and doing yard work. He will be remembered for his amazing personality and as a person who could talk to anyone, he never met a stranger. Beloved husband of Shirley Lewis. Loving father of Lloyd (Mildred) Bazley, Benson (Kalyn) Bazley, Deborah (Ernest) Houston, Aubrenelle (Warren) Bernard, Denise (Rodney) Carto, Barbara Goirl Stewart, and the late Benny Goirl, Jr. Stepfather of Consuella Allen, Elainder Craft, Angela Bazley, Benny (Rebekkah) Bazley, Eugene (Dianna Adams) Bazley, Alvin and Joe Allen. Great grandfather of the late Njeri Jane Brimmer. Son of the late Sylvester Goirl and Emily Badger. Brother of Herbert F. (Tommye Hills) Goirl and the late Delores “Takie” Collins and Audrey Walton. Bennie is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Shiloh Baptist Church, New Hope Baptist Church, Living Word Fellowship Church, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at New Hope Baptist Church, 434 7^th Street Gretna, LA on Friday, January 14, 2022, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the church.
