BARBARA JEAN SCOTT STAMPS

Barbara J. Scott Stamps, age 83, answered the Masters call on Monday, July 14, 2025, at West Jefferson Medical Center. She was a native and resident of Gretna, LA. Barbara earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and was employed for many years as are Registered Nurse with the V.A. Hospital, prior to retirement. She was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church of Gretna and a member of Pride of Oakville, Chapter #149 O. E. S. Devoted mother of Elder Pamela S. Brooks and Michael T. Stamps. Loving grandmother of Gavin M. Whitmore-Stamps. Daughter of the late Eugene Leonard Scott and Nancy M. Scott. Beloved sister of Mary Smith, Linda Sullivan, and the late Jessie Boyd. Sister-in-law of Charles Sullivan and Dalton Stamps. Former wife of the late Joseph L. Stamps. Barbara is also survived by her longtime friends, Elizabeth Louding, Elizabeth Baldwin, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, end members of New Hope Baptist Church of Gretna, Fresh Start Baptist Cathedral, and all neighboring churches; members of Pride of Oakville, Chapter #149 O.E. S.; employees of the New Orleans District Attorney’s Office, Orleans Parish Sheriff Office and Big Boy Enterprise, LLC; nursing staff of Wynhoven Community Care Center and former employees of Sears Dept. Store are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at New Hope Baptist Church, 434 Seventh Street, Gretna, LA on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Pastor Warren E. Johnson and Bishop Sean T. Elder, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
