BARBARA JEAN REECE

Barbara Jean Kent Reece, age 79, transitioned peacefully into eternal rest at her residence on Friday, February 6, 2026. She was a native of Gretna, LA (McDonoghville Community) and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Barbara was a graduate of Lincoln High School, and the owner of A&D Adult Residential Care an Assisted Living Facility. She was formerly employed as a nurse’s aide with West Jefferson Medical Center and as a home health care professional with Progressive Home Health Care. Barbara grew up in the Church of God In Christ, where she taught Sunday School. She later became a faithful member of Life Center Cathedral Family Life Center. Beloved wife of the late Alvin S. Reece, Sr. Devoted mother of Alvin S. (Nicole) Reece, Jr. and Duan Reece. Cherished grandmother of Rachaneka (Jermayne) Richardson, Thurston Reece, Kourtney (Ryan) George, and Shahid Reece. Daughter of the late Walter, Sr. and Berthella Kent. Granddaughter of the late Henry and Florence Brown. Loving sister of Marvin (Brenda), Otis (Christina), Campanella, Sr. (Trudy), Charles (Gail), Aaron (Colithia), and Vanessa Kent, Yolanda Blackwell, and the late Walter, Jr. (Ruby), Grady, Sr. (Dian), and Wendolyn (Adell) Kent, Sr. Barbara is also survived by 5 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Life Center Cathedral Family Life Center, United Fellowship FGBC, St. Matthew UMC, Liberty in Christ Christian Center and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Life Center Cathedral Family Life Center, 2100 Ames Blvd. Marrero, LA on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Bishop J. Douglas Wiley, officiating. Viewing will be held from 8:30-10:00a.m. ONLY at the church.
