AUDREY MAE LEWIS

Audrey Mae Lewis, age 86, entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at her residence. She was a native of Houma, LA and a resident of Westwego, LA for over 54 years. In April of 2022, she relocated to Powder Springs, GA to live with her sister Princess and spend her remaining years surrounded by family, love, and devoted care. Audrey was a 1961 graduate of Lincoln High School. She was employed for more than 20 years at Charity Hospital in Patient Information and later in the Admissions Office. After retirement, she devoted herself to caring for her husband, son, and mother, demonstrating the deep love and commitment she had for her family. Audrey was a faithful and active member of Life Center Cathedral, where she served with the Usher Ministry. She loved her church family and took great joy in serving others. In 2018, Audrey experienced a spiritual milestones when she traveled to Israel and participated in a renewal baptism at the Galilee Baptismal Site on the Jordan River. This sacred experience deepened her faith and reflected her enduring love for God and commitment to Christian living. Her relationship with Christ was evident in the way she loved, served, and encouraged others throughout her life. Beloved wife of the late Melvin Lewis, Sr. Devoted mother of the late Melvin Jr. and Mable Latricia Lewis. Daughter of the late Jerry Sr. and Mable G. Jones. Granddaughter of the late Lavinia Joseph. Loving sister of Northern Jones, Lucille Every, Jessie Jones, Mark (Annette) Jones, Princess (David, Sr.) Knight, and the late Irma Lee Jones, Bobby, Larry, Jerry, Jr., and Timothy Jones. Aunt of the late Johun Lewis, Irene Mays, Jerry Michael Jones, Marlon Smith, Percy Anderson, Jr., Gregory Anderson, Tyrone Anderson, Joseph Lewis, Jr., and Edgard Tilton, Jr. Great aunt of the late Ryan Jones, Kent Jamal Mayfield, and Keishon Terrell Every. Daughter-in-law of the late Joseph, Sr. and Alberta Lewis. Sister-in -law of Mable Jones, Juanita Tate, Carrie Lewis, Lola Mae Tilton, Dorothy Mays, Alvin “Sonny” and Connie Lewis. Audrey is also survived by 24 nieces, 13 nephews, 23 great nieces, 27 great nephews, 26 great great nieces, 27 great great nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, members of Life Center Cathedral Family Life Center and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Life Center Cathedral Family Life Center, 2100 Ames Blvd., Marrero, LA on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Bishop J. Douglas Wiley, officiating. Viewing will be held from 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
