Anthony “Tony” James Stewart was born October 26, 1957, to the late Oliver, Sr. and Ethel Mae Stewart and he departed this life in his home on August 5, 2022.  He was the fourth child born behind Oliver, Sharon, and Debora. Tony as he was affectionately known was a lifelong resident of Algiers and a graduate of O. Perry Walker High School, Dillard University and Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. He was a retired lawyer for the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans, where he served as General Counsel.  He served as City Attorney for New Orleans, worked as a lawyer at Ferrouillet Law Office as well as owned a private practice.  His favorite thing to do was playing golf. Anthony “Tony” James Stewart was preceded in death by his parents Oliver, Sr, and Ethel Mae Stewart; grandparents, James Oliver and Pauline Stewart, Joseph Harris, Sr. and Josephine Taylor; brother, Oliver Stewart, Jr.; aunt, Winifred Taylor Hughes; and uncles, Joseph Harris Jr., and Don Leon Taylor. He leaves to cherish his memories, his sisters, Sharon Simmons and Debora S. (Melvin) Collins; sister-in-law, Sandra Stewart; aunt, Ernestine Harris; devoted cousin, Kelly Donseraux; former wife and beloved friend, Donna Lynn Ross-Stewart; nieces and nephews who fondly referred to him as “Uncle Tony”, Derek and Lesley Clark, Syritta Stewart (Eddie) West, Brandi Collins (Brian) Thomas, Oneka Stewart (Sam) Griggley, Tiffany (Anthony) Walton, Melvin Collins, III, Alexis, Nicholas and Justin Griggley, Lauryn West, Moriah Clark, Vintrell, Teyonn and Taivian Ennis, Kayden Corbins and Blake Thomas, devoted friends, Darryl Harrison, Eric Ferrouillet and Thomas Scrubbs and a host of relatives and friends. Tony will be remembered because of his love and care for his family and friends, and if he could do anything to help you, he would.
