ANTHONY CRAIG LOWERY

Anthony C. Lowery departed this life at his residence on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the age of 79. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA. Anthony was employed as a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) and a Certified Compulsive Gambling Counselor (CCGC). He was also the owner of Leaders Educational Counseling, LLC. Anthony was a former adjunct professor at Southern University at New Orleans and Our Lady of Holy Cross College. He was a member of New Orleans Addition Professional Association (NOAPA), Louisiana Association of Substance Abuse Counselor and Trainee (LASACT), Louisiana Behavioral Health Advisory Council and LASACT District 1 Representative. Anthony was the former chairman of the Board of Substance Abuse Counselors of New Orleans District 1, and former board member of the National Association for Addition Professional nonprofit organization, Hug Not Drugs. He was a member of the Masonic Fraternal Organization and an inductee of the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Lowery. Loving father of Sonya K. (Ron) Gray. Cherished grandfather of Rason Gray and Cassius Gray. Son of the late James C. Lowery and Hilda E. Hill. Devoted brother of Ben Gasper, Melba Maxine Taylor, Deborah Stanley, Bertha Gasper, and the late Kenneth R. Johnson and Clifford Gasper. Anthony is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Private services were held.
