ALVIN PETER GARABOLD, JR.

Alvin Peter Garabold, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the age of 48. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Bridge City, LA. Alvin was a graduate of Jackson State University, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in science. He later earned a specialist certification in educational leadership from Capella University. In August 2023 he was named assistant principal of Salmen High School in St. Tammany Parish, after previously serving as dean of students at Bonnabel High School in Jefferson Parish. As a longtime educator and dedicated assistant principal, Alvin played a crucial role in leadership and student success. He will be remembered for the significant difference he made in the lives he served. Beloved son of Peter A. Garabold and Antoinette Christine Holmes Garabold. Stepson of Valarie Garabold. Grandson of the late John Holmes, Alfretta C. Holmes, Peter Garabold, Sr., and Laverne Whitaker. Loving brother of Sheri Laverne Garabold Kelly, Anthony Allen Garabold, and the late Sherlita R. Holmes. Devoted uncle of Shereese M. Holmes, Charlonda Holmes, and Trevon Holmes, who he was instrumental in rearing after the passing of their mother. Nephew of the late John P. Holmes, Wilbert Whitaker, Doretha Williams, and Anthony Garabold. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Third Emmanuel Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; faculty, staff and students of Salmen High School and Bonnabel High School; employees of St. Tammany and Jefferson Parish School Boards are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Dr. Joseph Dyson, Sr., officiating.
