Alvin Anthony Calvin entered eternal rest at his residence on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the age of 75. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Westwego, LA. Alvin lived a life full of love, dedication, and service. He was a Head Manager of Maintenance with the Audubon Institute Aquarium and Insectarium, where he left a lasting legacy of hard work and commitment. Alvin’s warm heart, infectious smile, and unwavering support for his family will be missed, but his spirit will live on in the memories of all who knew him. Beloved husband of Bobbie James Calvin. Devoted father of Alvin Perry, Antoinette Joseph, Antonio Joseph, Kimberly Joseph, Tamyra Cole, Brandie Cole, Crystal Calvin, Tewanda James, Richard James, Janet James, and the late Lakesha Joseph, and Carlos Joseph. Loving grandfather of Dalvin Wilson, Beverly Perry, Kelsey Perry, Devontae Joseph, Kiona Joseph, Alicia Joseph, Antanisha Joseph, Tatiana Joseph, Ashantiria Joseph, Danielle Joseph, Ariel Joseph, Willisha Joseph, Larreon Joseph, Cedric Abron III, Lovel Angelety, Rashad Jhonson Jr., Cedric Abron, D’ Anthony Calvin, Ka’lani Abron, Deidric Abron, Aj’Yana Cole, Mah’lani Abron, D’Famous Cole, Rashonda James, Richard James, Dalacia James, Zykiah Craig, Tenaj James, Kajana James, Tywain James, Jeffery Rogers and the late T’Alani Abron. Son of the late Edward Calvin and Ethel Giner. Brother to Alvinette (Chester) Webb, Jean Joseph, and James (Joycelyn) Boyer. Alvin is survived by a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends, all of whom he cherished deeply. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. until the service time at the parlor.
