Galvin Gabriel, Sr.

Galvin Gabriel, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at West Jefferson Medical Center, at 4:30p.m. He attended New Orleans Public Schools. At an early age was baptized. He joined the United States Army at the age of 18 and served six years as PVT 2nd Class in the Korean War. Galvin is a retired railroad worker and was also a security guard at Wal-Mart. Devoted husband of Rosemary (Shirley) Goins Gabriel. Loving father of Galvin, Jr., Merika Green, Arceneaux, Sashara and the late Leateud. Son of the late Ida Mae Kennedy and John Gabriel. Stepson of the late John Henry. Brother of John Henry, Gerald, Darryl, Alvin (Nell), Verna Mae and the late Bernice and Doretha; also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Age: 78 years a native of New Orleans, La. and a resident of Marrero, La. Relatives, friends and former co-workers are invited to attend the funeral service at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, La. on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 11:00a.m. Rev. Preston Clark-officiating Visitation will begin at 9:00am until service time. Interment: Restlawn Cemetery- Avondale, La. Repass: Mt.
