Carol Jean Smith departed this life @ Canon Hospice on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 11:00a.m. Daughter of the late Johnny Sr. and Aserene Smith. Sister of Virginia Turner of Indianapolis, Ind., Ruby Jackson, Edarine Johnson, Vernel ( Joyce) Smith, Sr., Cassandra ( James ) McCullum, Johnny ( JoAnn ) Smith, Jr. and the late Edward Thomas, Sr. Stepsister of Anna Mae Gaines. Niece of Eva Stewart. Aunt of Wayne Harris and Rhonda M. Johnson whom she raised. Godmother of Dwight Jones, Kim Mitchell, and Annette Haynes. Sister in law of Joyce A. Smith, Verna M. Thomas, Joann Smith, and James McCullem. Devoted friends Ella McLauren, Ella Winslow, and Barbara Scott, also survived by 15 nieces and nephews, 34 great nieces and nephews , 3 great great niece and nephews, and a host of cousins other relatives and friends. Age: 64 years a native of Vacherie, La. and a resident of Marrero, La. for 44 years Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Second Highway B. C., Emmanuel M. B. C., St. Paul M. B. C. and all neighboring churches. Employees of West Jefferson Medical Center, Canon Hospice , Jefferson Parish School System, Marrero Health Care and Marrero Senior Citizens are invited to attend the funeral service from Second Highway B. C. 1533 Haydel Dr. Marrero, La. on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. ( No Wake ) Visitation from 8:30 a.m. until service time. Interment: First Baptist Church Cemetery- St. James, La.
